Our Services

How we offer safe, happy and comfortable care at home

Staying in your own home for as long as possible has become a goal for many individuals these days. However, staying at home is not without its challenges. Even familiar surroundings can become difficult to navigate due to mobility and health issues. Friends and family can begin to drift apart, leading to isolation and loneliness. And some health concerns—especially neurological issues like Alzheimer’s and dementia—can leave loved ones with seemingly no alternative to taking the person out of the house and placing them in a residential setting.

Fortunately, as a home care provider we can extend a person’s ability to live independently. Not only can home caregivers provide physical assistance for a variety of everyday activities, they can also boost a person’s well being by providing transportation, housekeeping help, and essential companionship.

Here are some of the services we provide:

  • Personal care
  • Assistance with meals preparation
  • Assistance with medication (prompting or administering)
  • Domestic support
  • Getting out and about
  • Running errands
  • High dependency assistance
  • Waking night assistance or sleep-in
  • Companionship

Physical Care

All members of the One Day At A Time team are trained to work with clients in a friendly, personal manner to encourage independence, happiness and self-confidence. Our client’s individual ability to stand and move is constantly assessed by our qualified care.

For clients who are independently and physically able, we develop a Care Plan to maintain good levels of activity towards a happy and healthy lifestyle. For clients who are less independently able, the dedicated carers will identify what and when additional help is required and ensure that any medicational requirements are considered.

Our staff are trained in safe mobilising practices, but if required they have access to a range of specialist resources and guidance to maintain the quality of each client’s physical health. Our carers will ensure that dignity is maintained at all times and that safe, sensitive assistance is provided to encourage independence. If necessary, we will refer to specialist healthcare professionals for guidance.

Our carers continuously seek feedback from clients and/or their family members in relation to the promotion of mobility and how this can be improved. This includes information about community involvement, environmental considerations, positive risk management and staff attitudes.

Our overall objective is to enable our clients to live a safe, happy, physically active and comfortable life whilst under our care.

Adult & Elderly Care

More and more people are choosing to stay in the solace of their own home. Staying at home is not without its challenges, however. Sometimes, even familiar surroundings can become difficult to navigate due to mobility and health issues. Friends and family can begin to drift apart, leading to isolation and loneliness. And some health concerns—especially neurological issues like Alzheimer’s and dementia—can leave loved ones with seemingly no alternative to taking the person out of the house and placing them in a facility.

Fortunately, we can extend a person’s ability to live independently within the framework of the essential values of daily living. Not only can home caregivers provide physical assistance for a variety of everyday activities, we can also boost a person’s wellbeing by providing transportation, housekeeping help, and essential companionship. Our carers can also assist with medication prompting or administering.

Personal Care

We can provide the full range of personal care tailored to the client’s individual needs. Our carers can assist with the basic tasks of living like cooking and cleaning. They are trained to help with essential daily activities for those who struggle due to chronic illness, age, or disability from getting out of bed in the morning to being assisted to bed at night.

We can assist with all morning routines including shower, bathing and oral care, as well as with tasks like laundry, cooking and cleaning. We can assist with safe transfers with or without equipment.

We work closely with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to help our clients maintain their dignity and independence. Our carers are trained to assist with medication, prompting or administering.

Nutritional and Hydration Care

Good food, nutrition and hydration are important for everyone. This can become increasingly difficult as aging progresses or other conditions can make food and mealtimes challenging. Our carers can help to ensure that you or your loved ones are eating and drinking well.

Also we can work closely with a dietitian or doctor to make sure that all your dietary requirements are being adhered to.

Companion Care

Many people think of home care as dealing with the most personal activities of daily living like eating and toileting. Others see it as something needed only by those with debilitating physical or mental impairments such as heart disease or Alzheimer’s.

Companionship, however, is one of the essential components of home care. Home care is more than just caring for the physical needs of clients—it’s also making sure that they have the social and lifestyle support they need to stay in their homes.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

Alzheimer’s and dementia can seem like some of the cruelest consequences of aging. A sufferer may be otherwise healthy and happy, and yet memory impairments can threaten their safety and well-being. And even though familiar surroundings can put the sufferer more at ease, it can be difficult for family members to cope with the challenges memory impairment creates.

Carers can help individuals using a person-centred approach which emphasises on the client’s autonomy, but also promote active engagement to adjust care as the disease progresses.

Specialised Care

We can provide specialised assistance to those with health conditions and our carers are trained and competent to help those with Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and heart disease, and to help those recovering from strokes.

If you or a loved one is dealing with health conditions e provide help to adults, allowing them to stay in the solace of their own home. Our services are a suitable choice for you or your friends and family who may have issues with mobility, experience the chronic effects of ceaseless diseases, or even need a companion and intermittent help.

Our carers are trained to assist with medication, prompting or administering.

Palliative Care and End of Life

Palliative care is designed to give support, comfort, and quality of life in the final phase of a terminal illness. Our palliative care services focus on making the most out of the time remaining for each person that is consistent to their wishes.

At the end of life, staying among familiar surroundings can become more important than ever. Being at home allows people to remain connected with their loved ones and communities, and allows them to derive comfort from the places they know best.

End-of-life care is not a pleasant thing to anticipate, but with the help of dedicated caregivers, loved ones can meet their final days with dignity and grace.
